My first-ever paid gig as a programmer. I was brought on by KDE e.V. to help improve accessibility all acroos the Plasma desktop and KDE Applications.
My history with KDE
Throughout almost my entire time using Linux, my main desktop environment of choice has been KDE Plasma. This is because it has by-far the best screen magnifier implementation for multiple displays, even beating proprietary tools. My first contribution to KDE was in early 2024, fixing a bug with non-rectangular monitor arrangements and desktop zoom, prior to Plasma 6’s release. I’m also well-known for being the guy who helped find out why Brodie Robertson’s computer kept freezing.
Since then, I’ve been daily-driving Plasma 6 on every device I use that runs Linux (other than my Steam Deck, though I did try.), and prefer its accessibility experience to Windows.
Now, it’s quite literally my job to make that even more true.
